Technology Ideas?

I have really had a difficult time creating lessons that incorporate students use of technology, especially 6 and 7 year olds. I can think of a lot of cool ideas such as iMovie, or creating a brochure but, I struggle with coming up with ideas that are geared for younger children. I feel that they need to use technology and not just watch it being used by the teacher. Does anyone have any great ideas?

  1. There are many on-line games and learning tools that students could use in route to a final project. Just look around. (e.g., starfall, national geographic, etc.)

  2. "Internet scavenger hunts are another way to integrate technology into almost any topic or subject area. "I have my older students create online scavenger hunts for younger students," noted computer coordinator Jennifer Wagner. "It improves my older students' research and typing skills, and provides lower grade teachers with extra activities for their students." from the website http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/tech/tech176.shtml

How about playing jeopordy. I know there are many templates online for it and i believe it is a great way to review information studied for an upcoming test. Also, many students like the competition.- Susan

  3. I've used several of these ideas before. I guess I was just looking for something different. I have some good ideas for my final project, I just thought it would be nice to have some new idea to have my students use in the classroom and computer lab.
